Tropical Storm Harold made landfall on a barrier island off Texas on Tuesday morning, bringing much-needed moisture to the drought-stricken state but also threatening tornadoes and flash flooding . Harold, dubbed "Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine" until reaching tropical storm strength early Tuesday, could slam South Texas with up to 7 inches of rain into Wednesday, said Richard Pasch, a senior meteorologist with the National Hurricane Center. John Eastman, the conservative attorney who masterminded a legal strategy to attempt to overturn the 2020 election, surrendered to authorities Tuesday on charges in Georgia. He was indicted last week alongside former President Donald Trump and 17 others accused of a scheme to steal the 2020 election from President Joe Biden in the Peach State. He faces charges of conspiracy to impersonate a public officer and conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, among others. |
