👋🏼 It's almost Friday! I'm Phaedra Trethan, a former local news reporter sending a shoutout to the Marion County Record. Keep fighting the good fight. ✊🏼

In Thursday's news:

Revelations continue to spill out about Jeffrey Epstein and President Donald Trump.

A federal judge has ordered the release of hundreds of ICE detainees.

But first: The Northern Lights have been putting on quite a show — as far south as Texas and Florida. 🤩 ✨

More Epstein revelations

"What did he know and when did he know it" might seem like Watergate-era questions but they're now swirling around our current President. Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein certainly knew each other , but now the nature of their relationship and how much Trump knew about the late sex trafficker's dealings are drawing even more intense scrutiny after the release of emails from Epstein to friends and acquaintances.

"These two were very close, so the question is what did Trump know and when did he know it?" Rep. Greg Landsman, D-Ohio, said on CNN. Stay tuned.

Judge: Free ICE detainees

A federal judge in Chicago ordered the release of hundreds of detainees Wednesday, saying "it seems highly unlikely that they're drug traffickers or gang members or the assorted ne'er-do-wells ICE has claimed are the worst of the worst." The ruling comes nearly two months into Operation Midway Blitz, a flurry of immigration raids in the city and its surrounding region.

After more than 230 years, the humble 1-cent coin, the pretty penny, will no longer be produced. At an event Wednesday at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia, Treasurer Brandon Beach pressed the button to make the last few pennies.
