Good morning! We're halfway through the week. Pat yourself on the back.

Today in the news: President Trump is campaigning in Iowa's COVID "yellow zone." Amy Coney Barrett sits for the third day of her Supreme Court confirmation hearing. And, we're going to space! (Well, an American woman and two Russian men have gone to space.)

It's Lindsay. Hope your day is out of this world.

Despite warning, Trump headed to Iowa's COVID-19 'yellow zone' for rally

The White House coronavirus task force has repeatedly urged Iowa leaders to take stronger steps to rein in the pandemic, but President Donald Trump won't be heeding their advice on social gatherings at his campaign rally Wednesday in Des Moines .  The White House task force's latest report carried a dire warning for the state: "Community transmission has remained high across the state for the past month, with many preventable deaths." The report classifies the area as being in a "yellow zone" for virus transmission and advised gatherings should be limited to 25 or fewer people. "If anyone in attendance is infectious, we are potentially looking at another super-spreader event," said Lina Tucker Reinders, executive director of the Iowa Public Health Association.

Senators to grill Barrett on third day of Supreme Court hearings

Senators on Wednesday will grill Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett again on her career and views that could offer insights on how she would rule on the nation's highest court. On Tuesday, Barrett fielded questions from senators for more than 11 hours, where she repeatedly refrained from offering her stance on key issues and cases — such as those that could decide the fate of abortion, health care and gun laws — in an attempt to differentiate her legal views from her personal beliefs.

Today, each senator will be given at least 20 minutes to pepper Barrett with questions. Republicans are eager to confirm Barrett to the Court before Election Day and have sped along the confirmation process. A final vote by the full Senate is expected before the end of the month.

No. 9 Florida halts team activities ahead of LSU game after COVID cases

University of Florida's Health and sports medicine staff will re-evaluate the football team's status Wednesday after the Gators halted all team activities due to an uptick in positive tests for COVID-19 . Over the past week, the Gators have had five tests come back positive, raising the total to six for October, according to figures released by the school. Since the players returned to campus on May 26, there have been 37 positive tests on the football team. The coronavirus has prompted schools and conferences to postpone more than two dozen college football games and forced many teams to compete without key players. The No. 9 Gators are scheduled to play LSU at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday.
