The Daily Money

Monday, February 15

Welcome to Monday, Daily Money crew, it's Nathan Bomey welcoming you into the second half of February. I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

On to our ...

INSIGHT OF THE DAY: Don't fall for scams online that threaten to post nude photos of you unless you send money. Similar to a sextortion scam that circulated several years ago – in which scammers threatened to post video of people's porn habits unless then sent bitcoin – a new one has been circulating that demands money or else the perpetrator will supposedly post the embarrassing photos online.

Now for the news.

1. The physical toll of COVID-19 is devastating. But the mental health toll is real, too – especially for Americans who have lost their jobs. USA TODAY reporter Charisse Jones chronicles the mental toll.

2. Many Americans have lost their homes during the pandemic. Despite the federal government's economic stimulus efforts, including eviction moratoriums, many people are living in their cars for the first time, USA TODAY reporter Jessica Guynn writes.

3. Remember how the IRS extended the tax filing deadline in the beginning of the pandemic in 2020? That's not happening this year

4. Have you been eying a Jaguar? If you're looking for a gasoline-powered Jaguar, you'll need to act soon. The brand just announced it's going all-electric in 2025.
