Yes, it's Friday, Talking Tech readers. I know you normally get this Thursday. Brett Molina here with a full apology for the delay. But no way you were ending the week without a look at this week's top tech headlines.

Let's start with Apple. June is approaching, which means time for the tech giant's Worldwide Developers Conference. It's at this gathering where Apple reveals the first details of iOS 17, and all the fun new features coming to your iPhone in the fall. We'll also likely hear about software updates for Apple Watch, iPad and Macs.

So what might we see land on iPhones in September? According to Bloomberg , one feature involves expanding the functionality of the screen when your iPhone isn't active. It will show info such as calendar appointments and notifications similarly to smart home devices when the screen is locked, said the report.

But that might not be all. Possibly one of the biggest rumors heading into WWDC is Apple might introduce a headset that supports augmented reality or virtual reality.

VR has had its moments, but it hasn't exactly become the highly popular, life-altering device many expected. But when Apple's involved, you have to listen. If any company could convince the masses to consider VR or AR, it's Apple.

Typically, Apple invites to the media would feature a clue about what to expect. But a pretty silhouette of Apple Park with the title "You're Invited" isn't sharing much.

Apple's keynote address kicking off WWDC is on June 5. Stay tuned.
