Youth is wasted on the young? Not anymore, according to a new USA TODAY survey . Two-thirds of Americans believe younger people face hardships their parents were spared. Starter homes cost more than ever. So do college loans and child care. Meanwhile, older folks are living longer and working longer, potentially blocking young workers from advancement. Two-thirds of Gen Zers and three quarters of millennials said they believe they are starting further behind, in a financial sense, than earlier generations at their age. That's according to an online survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults conducted by The Harris Poll in late August. Younger Americans also face seemingly unprecedented challenges such as a climate crisis and unseen levels of  political divisiveness, with much of the turmoil caused by older generations.
