Israel ends two-week siege of Gaza's Shifa Hospital |
The Israeli military announced the completion of its controversial "targeted operation" at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on Monday after killing 200 militants and arresting 500 others during a weekslong siege that drew outcries from hospital officials and global leaders. |
What happened? Israel said the operation was carried out as a result of "preliminary and accurate" intelligence indicating Hamas militants were using the hospital campus as a command center and military headquarters. |

Alex Murdaugh sentenced in multimillion-dollar fraud spree |
With two state prison sentences already on his shoulders, confessed and convicted fraudster Alex Murdaugh walked into a federal courthouse in Charleston, South Carolina, Monday to receive yet another – a hefty federal prison sentence. |
Forty-year sentence: Murdaugh, a disbarred lawyer, was sentenced to 480 months in prison in connection with a sweeping decade-plus, multimillion-dollar financial fraud crime spree that engulfed more than a score of victims in South Carolina. This 40-year term will run concurrently with Murdaugh's state prison terms.
