Thousands of federal workers have taken Trump's buyout offer |
At least 20,000 employees have accepted a buyout offer that President Donald Trump made to the entire federal workforce. That's just 1% of more than 2 million federal employees. The White House has a goal for 5% to 10% to accept buyouts. Last week, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management offered all federal employees eight months of pay and benefits through September if they resign by Feb 6. |
It's "likely" that layoffs will happen if not enough employees take the buyout, Erv Koehler, assistant commissioner of general supplies and services at General Services Administration, wrote in an email to GSA staff, according to the Washington Post.
