TFW your boss isn't helping mend the fence with your neighbor country

"We're getting really bad dudes out of this country," President Trump said Thursday at a White House meeting with business officials. "And it's a military operation." The problem? Trump's Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly had just assured Mexican officials  that the U.S. did not intend to involve the military in its deportation plans. White House spokesman Sean Spicer later said Trump used the word military "as an adjective," describing the "precision" of the operations. Kelly and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson are in Mexico City to try and patch things up after Mexican officials voiced strong opposition to the tougher U.S. immigration policy announced Tuesday.

You don't make it into the history books by simply saying, 'I'd like to thank the Academy.'

The Academy Awards are Sunday, so you have a few days left to watch all the nominated films. Then, gobs of movie fans will tune into Hollywood's biggest night with plenty of frantic tweets about the  OMG moments . Don't forget the speeches. From Halle Barry to Tom Hanks, great acceptance speeches range from inspirational to historic and funny. Sadly, not all of them are good. When they go on too long, cue the awkward "play-'em-off" music. "You get drunk with power," said producer Michael De Luca.

Where in the world is Sarah Palin?

One name is noticeably missing from the Conservative Political Action Conference this week: Sarah Palin. The former Republican vice presidential candidate used to be a rock star at the annual conservative gathering. This year she wasn't invited . But CPAC was otherwise filled with love. White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and senior adviser Steve Bannon disputed media reports Thursday casting them as rivals in Trump's political court. They even agreed that the media is the worst.

This is what transgender looks like

Meet with me and my sister. That was the request (via Twitter) to President Trump from Jackie Evancho, 16, the 'America's Got Talent' star who sang at his inauguration. Her sister Juliet came out as transgender in 2015. (Here's a refresher on  what it means to be transgender.) The Trump administration rolled back federal protection for transgender students Wednesday, now it will be up to states to decide which restrooms trans students use. All eyes are on Gavin Grimm, a Virginia high school student who identifies as male.  His case goes before the Supreme Court in April . A ruling in his favor could set a national standard for trans rights.

How far would you go for the perfect Instagram pic?

A Russian Instagram model recently risked her life for the perfect picture. In a video posted on social media, Viki Odintcova, 23, dangles off the edge of the 1,004-foot-high Cayan Tower in Dubai as a male assistant holds her hand. Video of the photoshoot is cringe-worthy,  but as Odintcova expected, it raked in views and "likes." And while she got a mind-blowing shot, the stunt may have landed her in legal trouble. Anything for a "like," right? The group that owns the building in the United Arab Emirates doesn't think so, and may take legal action against the model, who took the photos without permission or safety equipment.
