Honeymoon's over

One month into Donald Trump's presidency, activists around the nation are saying he is "not my president." And on Presidents Day, no less. Forget that traditional honeymoon  period for a new president. Trump has seen his approval ratings sag and the political divisions of his election deepen. He's kept the overwhelming support of Republicans, but just 8% of Democrats approve of the job he's doing — by far the lowest standing for any modern president from the opposition party. Even some of his (Fox) friends are down on Trump. Veteran Fox News anchors Chris Wallace and Shepard Smith publicly rebuked him for his media attacks and falsehoods. In other presidential news:

Historians ranked Barack Obama the 12th best president of all time. Comedians have a ranking of their own.
Monticello isn't hiding Thomas Jefferson's ties to slave Sally Hemings anymore.
Trump named Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster as his new national security adviser, replacing dismissed Michael Flynn.

If you're on the road in L.A., time's a-wastin'

Being named the most congested city in the world  is not a superlative that municipalities want. But congratulations, Los Angeles. The average driver there wasted 104 hours sitting in gridlock during the busiest commuting times last year, and lost $2,408 each in squandered fuel and productivity. L.A. isn't alone. Moscow had the second-worst congestion, yet New York and San Francisco weren't far behind. Why those cities? Cheap gas and a surging economy are taxing the nation's already-strained roads and contributing to congestion. From the rest of the U.S.: Thanks, L.A., for taking this burden.

Trump administration: 2 for me, 1 for you

Men outnumber women  by more than 2-to-1 among top aides to President Trump so far, according to the White House and an analysis by USA TODAY. If that ratio holds as the president finishes filling out his staff, the percentage of women in the West Wing would be smaller than at least five of the last six presidential terms. The range: 28% under George W. Bush in 2008, 52% under Bill Clinton in 2000. After four weeks, the analysis shows 23% are women. Highest ranking? Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president; Dina Habib Powell, senior counselor for economic initiatives; and K.T. McFarland, deputy national security adviser. Highest profile? Trump's daughter Ivanka, who is not a White House employee.

'Sky rivers' wreak havoc on California weather

Yes, there are rivers in the sky , and they're a blessing and a curse for Californians. These "atmospheric rivers" made of water vapor are thousands of miles long and funnel moisture from the tropics to the western U.S. While beneficial for water supplies in the West, they also fuel for the massive rainstorms and subsequent floods there, including the one that hit Northern California on Monday. A new study found they're responsible for up to 65% of the western USA's extreme rain and snow events. So it's been a boon this winter for California skiers: Much of the Sierra Nevada is seeing its snowiest October-February period on record, the National Weather Service said. So grab your umbrella and head for the slopes.

This right-wing fringe group is building a multimedia empire near Detroit

The group hopes the forces that elected Trump will tear down the wall between church and state. Church Militant broadcasts pro-life, anti-gay, anti-feminist, Islam-fearing, human-caused-climate-change-denying orthodox Catholic news on its website churchmiltant.com and through social media. It uses high-tech, professional production studios that rival those at local TV news stations. The USA TODAY NETWORK takes  a deep look inside what the group is doing and why.

This is a compilation of stories from across USA TODAY.
