A message for Trump

When word spread about immigrant families being separated at the southern U.S. border, many Americans were outraged. Some wrote op-eds, others wrote Facebook posts. The national outcry prompted President Donald Trump to issue an executive order stopping the separation of families, but it didn't include a provision for reunifying them (a federal judge later ordered that). On Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people are expected to march in Washington, D.C., and in all 50 states to protest the administration's "zero tolerance" policy on immigration and demand 1) an end to family separation 2) immediate reunification and 3) support for families' trauma. Meanwhile, first lady Melania Trump made another visit to the border (and ditched the jacket).

No crystal ball, but some predictions for the future

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy stunned the nation when he announced his retirement after three decades on the bench, but President Donald Trump said he'll let us in on his nominee soon. Trump confirmed Kennedy's replacement would come from a list he released in November. Here's who's on it.

The nuclear promise that lasted just 9 days

Despite President Donald Trump lauding a successful summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and declaring eventual denuclearization, the totalitarian state is actually making upgrades to its nuclear facilities — and at a rapid pace. According to new satellite images from June 21 — nine days after Trump and Kim met in Singapore for a "honest, direct and productive" summit — North Korea is making improvements to its Yongbyon nuclear facility. There's been no immediate reaction from the White House.

It's calendar official

President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin will hold their first formal, one-on-one meeting in Helsinki, on July 16. On the agenda: U.S.-Russia relations, Syria's civil war, Russian aggression in Ukraine and North Korea's nuclear weapons. Easy stuff. The meeting will come at the end of Trump's scheduled trip to Europe.

Get ready to wish you had TSA Pre

Flying Friday? The Transportation Security Administration said it could be one of the busiest days in its history. The number of airline passengers this Friday before the July Fourth holiday will approach a record. TSA said it typically screens 2.2 million passengers a day, but it could top 2.6 million on Friday. The busiest day since TSA was created in 2001 saw 2.7 million travelers screened.

The heat is on

Get ready to bake. A dangerous heat wave is forecast to scorch the central and eastern U.S. over the next few days, with record high temperatures possible in the Northeast. The worst of the heat will start in the Midwest on Friday before creeping toward the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic by Saturday and Sunday. Heat advisories, watches and warnings are posted in parts of 18 states from New Mexico to Michigan.

About that rumor

Scarlett Johansson says she did not audition to date Tom Cruise after his split from Nicole Kidman, calling the claim "crazy" and "demeaning" in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter. An ex-Scientologist made the claim on Megyn Kelly Today. "I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships," the actress said.
