Rams' McVay points out obvious flaw in NFL's return plan

When I was little, my house had a front door that would stick. Mornings, I woke early and went out the manageable back door to grab the Sports page. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Friday, June 19

Good morning! Today is Friday, June 19 and I'm Scott Boeck, here to help you start the day. The saga between MLB owners and players continues, and some believe agent Scott Boras' influence has been detrimental in their attempts to reach an agreement for a 2020 season. Friday is also the day Cleveland fans will never forget. LeBron and the Cavs delivered an NBA championship to the city in 2016. And in observance of Juneteenth, read and learn about a football player named Jack Trice , who was first Black athlete at Iowa State. He died after being trampled in football game in 1923. In 1997, the stadium was named after him and it remains the only major-college football stadium named for a Black man. Scroll down to see the day's biggest sports headlines, but first:

We recently asked why you fell in love with sports. These are those stories.

Today's memory is from USA TODAY Sports reporter Steve Berkowitz:

I don't remember there being one magical, clear-eyed moment when I fell in love with sports. I just always remember being obsessed. Playing sports. Watching sports. Reading about sports. When I was little, my house had a heavy front door that would stick when it was locked at night. Mornings, I woke before my parents did. So, I went out the manageable back door, ran around the side of the house and went out front to grab the Sports section. Sports on TV were good. Sports in person were best. Many of the teams and leagues don't exist anymore. Neither do some of the venues. The obsession remains.
