Morning, friends. The NHL's 32nd team finally has its players. Can't wait for Liam Neeson to say "release the Kraken" on repeat next season. All. The. Time.

The Seattle franchise took a major step by picking its team Wednesday night, headlined by Mark Giordano (Flames) and Jordan Eberle (Islanders). In total, general manager Ron Francis selected 15 forwards, 12 defensemen and three goaltenders. We broke down the winners and losers of the draft  and examined all 30 picks here

👀 What everyone's talking about: The Tokyo Olympic Games don't officially start until Friday with the opening ceremony, but there's already a strong dose of controversy. For starters, there's significant outcry that the Olympics are even happening with fear of COVID-19 spreading. A US beach volleyball player tested positive for COVID-19 and was ruled out of Olympics. On Thursday, the director of the Olympics opening ceremony was fired over Holocaust comments. And American fencer Alen Hadzic, under investigation for allegations of sexual misconduct, is participating at the Olympics but facing restrictions. He vented about how he's been treated in Tokyo so far.

🥇 Major Team USA wins: The American softball team beat Canada 1-0. The games are being played on a baseball field, but that doesn't faze Olympians one bit. The US women's soccer team was making no excuses following a 3-0 loss to Sweden. "We got our asses kicked, didn't we?" Megan Rapinoe told reporters.
