New twist in missing person case

The case of a Hawaii woman whose disappearance was the subject of a large search effort in Los Angeles took a dramatic turn this week when police officials said they reviewed footage of her crossing into Mexico.

What we know now: Hannah Kobayashi, 30, of Maui, walked through the U.S.-Mexico border in California voluntarily on Nov. 12, days after she missed her connecting flight to New York, Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said Monday. He said she has now been classified as a voluntary missing person and the department will halt its investigation while she is out of the country. 🔎 See the latest updates.

Martial law? No martial law

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law Tuesday, accusing the country's main opposition party of being overly sympathetic to North Korea − before quickly backing down under pressure. Opposition leaders called the move unconstitutional, and the country's Parliament quickly passed a motion requiring the declaration to be lifted. Within hours, Yoon said he would reverse course. The White House National Security Council said it was "seriously concerned." 👉 See the latest.

What is martial law? What to know.

Beyoncé can now add another title to her list of accolades, as the megastar has just been named the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard.

In a surprise to exactly nobody, the magazine, which has been gradually unveiling its rankings over the last several months, announced Tuesday that Queen Bey secured the No. 1 spot on its list of 25 greatest pop stars.

Stacking the trophies: Beyoncé, who is already the most decorated Grammy artist in history with a total of 32 wins, recently became the most Grammy-nominated artist of all time with a total of 99 nominations throughout her career. 🤩 See who else made Billboard's list.

🎶  And send me an email if you agree or would like to hear more about why I think John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats should really be the No. 1 pick. (Charismatic! Humble! Stays writing catchy tune after tune – even had a recent resurgence on TikTok! You get it.)
