Two more Americans have contracted the deadly new coronavirus that has killed more than 50 people in China, raising the U.S. total to five. The virus has been reported in several countries, but all the deaths have been in China. The virus, first diagnosed in China last month, has infected at least 1,975 people and killed 56 people there, according to that nation's National Health Commission. |

Trump's impeachment trial team: No abuse of power, no obstruction |
President Donald Trump's lawyers took to the Senate podium during Saturday's impeachment trial to outline their case for exonerating the president – a marked contrast to House Democrats' marathon and often scathing presentations. The president's lawyers attacked House Democrats' credibility and accused them of omitting exculpatory evidence. They portrayed Trump as innocent of all charges and warned the senator-jurors against removing him from office – saying that would be an abuse of power and imploring them to let American voters determine Trump's fate in November. Democrats say Trump abused his power by soliciting foreign interference from Ukraine in the 2020 election and then covered it up by blocking witness testimony and refusing to turn over documents to impeachment investigators. |

"She is a thinker, a policy wonk and a hard worker," the board wrote in its endorsement. The Register has endorsed candidates since the 1988 caucuses. In 2016 the board endorsed Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Marco Rubio. |
