The Daily Money

Thursday, October 21

Good morning, Daily Money friends, it's Nathan wishing you a happy Thursday!

📱 Former President Donald Trump says he's launching a new social media service in 2022.

Politics aside, I'll say this: The hurdles to building a popular social media app from scratch are tremendous for anyone. And the ones that do succeed, like Snapchat and TikTok, tend to grow organically. It's hard to force it.

Don't forget: Facebook started in Mark Zuckerberg's dorm room. (And a few other people's. But that's another story.)

Trump, of course, has one big thing on his side: a committed base of followers, many of whom have expressed disdain for Facebook and Twitter. Let's see if they follow him onto the new service, which will be called TRUTH Social.
