Republican and Democrat workers are deeply divided over their employers' diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, a new survey shows.

Most Democratic and Democratic-leaning workers – 78% – say focusing on DEI at work is a good thing, according to the Pew Research Center. Just 30% of Republicans and Republican-leaning workers felt the same. What's more, 30% of Republicans said DEI was a bad thing.

These sharp partisan divisions are unusual in the workplace where workers' attitudes about their jobs don't tend to fluctuate based on party affiliation, says Kim Parker, director of social and demographics trends research at Pew Research.

With GOP hopeful and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis making hay about "woke" corporate America in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, these debates are happening in cubicles across the country.

"The findings suggest that the political polarization and the party divides that we see across different realms of life also exist in the workplace," Parker said. "Now that these DEI efforts and policies have become a point of national debate, those differences are getting reinforced."

Brown rice As long as it doesn't get damp and isn't invaded by weevils or rice mites (those tiny but mobile black specks that can find their way into grains kept in unsealed containers), white rice will last almost indefinitely. Brown rice, however, can go rancid in six to eight months, or slightly longer if refrigerated. That's hardly overnight, but faster than most people would suspect. This is because the bran, which is polished off white rice but coats the brown variety, contains oils that start to spoil with time. Leftover cooked brown rice, even when refrigerated in a sealed container, should be eaten within five days or discarded. ALSO READ: The Top-Selling Canned Foods in America
