ALL THE MONEY NEWS YOU NEED TO KNOW

The hype behind Amazon Prime Day is real! Here's what to know.

Amazon Prime Day came a long way from its first appearance in 2015, where only a handful of countries had access to what started as a 24-hour event.

It's Medora, wishing everyone a happy Friday Eve because I'm ready for the weekend.

It's been a busy week. So far, we've seen inflation cooling further, Social Security's 2024 cost of living adjustment projection unexpectedly rising, and an online shopping frenzy, kickstarted on Tuesday by Amazon's two-day Prime Day sale.

Interestingly, 40-year high inflation last summer pushed people to buy household staples like paper towels and snacks at Amazon's biggest sale of the year. Now, as inflation has eased, it seems some people went back to buying other things. Some unusual big winners early in the sale? Cat treats and liquid IV packets. Liquid IV packets are meant to keep you hydrated while exercising, but we all know what else they can be used for...party on!

Or maybe, you can just shop on! Amazon still has deals even though its official Prime Day is over. When you're ready for a shopping break, you can go scour for meal deals tomorrow, too. Friday is National Mac and Cheese Day, National French Fry Day and Krispy Kreme's 86th birthday!
