On the web. Gadgets can be overwhelming and the internet can be a scary place, but they both have their benefits, too. From what to look for before accepting terms and conditions, to using AI, to what to do when you get an unknown call, here are 15 tech tips to improve your life. |
Game on. The first-ever report on LGBTQ inclusion in video games, by GLAAD, a nonprofit LGBTQ advocacy organization, helps tear down the stereotypes of who gamers are and what they look like. About 17% of active gamers — nearly 1 in 5 — are LGBTQ, according to the report. |
But the games don't exactly reflect the LGBTQ community that is playing them and appears to be lagging behind other media when it comes to inclusivity and representation. |
According to the study, "70% of LGBTQ gamers and 46% of non-LGBTQ gamers are less likely to buy or play a game if it contains harmful tropes or stereotypes about the LGBTQ community. Notably, 51% of heavy/core gamers are less likely to buy or play such a game." |
Sound off. What's that sound when you're scrolling through Facebook on your mobile phone? The chirping noise some people have reported hearing while using the app is not your imagination, but it's also not a new Facebook feature. |
The noise is apparently a temporary bug, according to Meta spokesperson Andy Stone. Meta reportedly is working on fixing the bug, but read more about what's going on and how you can stop the chirping noise now. |
