👋🏼 Hello! I'm Phaedra Trethan, not quite old enough to plead age as an excuse not to shovel snow. ❄️ 🥶 ☃️

In Wednesday's news:

America's caregivers need help. Will they ever get it?
In a switch, a major retailer is asking for a refund. Who's seeking a return of tariff money?
Gen Z's "financial flex" might leave them heavily in debt.

But first: We can't stop laughing about this trash(ed) panda (hope the headache afterward was worth it, little buddy). 😂 🦝 🍻 🥃

Caregivers in crisis

Caring for a loved one — an aging parent, chronically or terminally ill spouse, a child with special needs — can be a lonely, exhausting and relentless cycle that can bring physical and mental health challenges, stalled careers, crippling guilt and financial fallout.

USA TODAY launched a Cost of Care survey in May to find out what caregivers contend with, how they cope, and what kind of help they desperately need. What they said — and whether those hopes might ever become reality.

Costco seeks 'complete refund'

Costco, the retail giant famous for gigantic packages and $1.50 hot dog combos, is suing the federal government, seeking a "complete refund" of import duties if the Supreme Court rules that President Trump's tariffs are illegal. What the suit claims.

Going broke to look rich?

Is a generation obsessed with influencers trying too hard to emulate their aspirational online lifestyles? A new nationwide study found that more than half of Gen Z admit to lying or exaggerating about their financial success online. How the "financial flex" could cost them, monetarily and otherwise, down the line.
