Terror takes over the streets of London

'I just can't believe what I just saw'

It's been exactly one year since terror struck Brussels. Wednesday, it came to London in the form of two attacks: first at the Westminster Bridge, then near Britain's Parliament. Here's what happened: A homicidal motorist drove over the bridge — mowing over terrified pedestrians — and then headed to Parliament. The attacker then fled on foot and tried to enter the building before being fatally shot by police. This story is still developing, but this is  what we know:

Fatalities: Multiple. One was a police officer. More here.
Injured: At least 20, including some French high school students.
Safe: Prime Minister Theresa May, who was seen being ushered into a car at Parliament as gun shots were fired.
Who was the attacker? Unclear at this time.
Did the attacker act alone? Police think so, but a full counterterrorism investigation is underway.

Football, faster

Tired of unnecessary breaks from the action when you're watching your favorite NFL team? Commercials can be great, and challenge reviews are important, but they can get tedious at times, right? NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell agrees, believe it or not. He shared some exclusive information with USA TODAY Sports  about changes coming to the league in 2017. Commercial breaks will be a bit longer (sigh) but there will be fewer of them — four per quarter instead of five or six. Score! Broadcasts will have the option to go to commercial during replay reviews, or kill two birds with one stone by showing commercials and replays side by side via a split-screen. There will also be timing changes, including the implementation of a play clock after extra points and perhaps touchdowns. The NFL has done a lot of experimentation and research on how to improve the pace of the game. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

Every step you take, every move you make

Your friends will be watching you — because texting or messaging your ETA is so lame, apparently. Starting this week, you can use Google Maps to share your location  with friends. In other words, instead of telling them you're on the way to meet them for dinner or drinks, they track you on the Maps app. Do others apps do this? Yes. Is it still kinda weird and creepy that your friends (or parents or significant others) could use it to follow your movements? Absolutely.

More like Wheel of Misfortune

On Tuesday's episode of 'Wheel of Fortune ', one contestant could almost taste victory. He had just one letter remaining in the puzzle that was the title of Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play. (What is, 'A Streetcar Named Desire'? Correct — wait, wrong game show). The contestant was only missing an "M" from the puzzle. His downfall? "NA_ED" also looks like another, more NSFW word. So, he guessed a "K." Boy, are we glad our epic fails aren't captured on television.

The cute baby animal countdown continues...

This is a story about April. She's a giraffe and she's been pregnant since 2015, which — as moms who just cringed while reading this can confirm — is quite a long time. Good news, though! April is due to give birth any day now. In fact, she's actually overdue. Experts predicted April would give birth in February, but weeks later, we're still waiting patiently (or at least trying to). A Seattle man  created an app that sends out "active labor" notifications to users who can't monitor April's livestream 24/7. Though we have to wonder, perhaps April will wait until her namesake month to introduce her little one to the world?
