Hi, Daily Money team, it's Nathan here wishing you a happy Veteran's Day!

πŸŽ–️ Thank you to all the veterans out there for your service to our country.

Retailers and restaurants are offering all sorts of deals to veterans today. Our Kelly Tyko has a roundup of free food offers as well as discounts and freebies at other establishments.

πŸ’° The Daily Money is USA TODAY's Monday-through-Friday-morning roundup of all things personal finance, business and tech. If this email was forwarded to you or if you found it online, you can subscribe for free here!

On to our ...

πŸ’‘ INSIGHT OF THE DAY: Inflation has reached a 31-year high. Wage increases have helped many Americans keep up with price increases. But overall, the average American worker's wage increases have been usurped by price hikes. Real average hourly earnings – a metric that accounts for the impact of wage and price increases – declined by 1.1% from October 2020 to October 2021, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

πŸ“° And here are more stories you won't want to miss:

1. Is a fierce winter coming for the housing market? Here's what buyers should expect.

2. The stock market used to observe a two-minute shutdown to honor veterans on this holiday. Not anymore.

3. Congress has issued a new mandate for automakers: They'll have to install technology to combat drunk driving.

4. Arby's is making Crinkle Fry and Curly Fry vodkas. Here's where to buy them.

πŸ₯ƒ On second thought, maybe we should just stick with the curly fries and skip the vodka part, mmmk?
