Fed pauses interest rate hikes but more likely

And then the Fed rested. After its sharpest flurry of interest rate hikes in four decades, the Federal Reserve held its key rate steady Wednesday but signaled two more increases are likely this year as officials continue to battle high inflation. That's more projected hikes than financial markets and many economists anticipated. For now, the benchmark rate will remain at a range of 5% to 5.25% after a streak of 10 consecutive hikes. πŸ“‰ Will rates keep going up? We break it down.

GOP rivals pounce after Trump's second indictment

Most Republican candidates had been reluctant to discuss the indictment accusing former President Donald Trump of hoarding sensitive classified documents – probably fearful of alienating Trump's large political base. But as more details emerge, and despite Trump's aggressive denials, that's changing by the day. Trump's former vice president, Mike Pence – who criticized the indictment as recently as Saturday – has joined the growing list of 2024 Republican candidates who are now starting to attack him over the criminal charges he's facing. ​​Vegas Golden Knights score first Stanley Cup title

From the very start, Vegas Golden Knights owner Bill Foley's goal was to win a Stanley Cup by the team's sixth season. His dream came true on Tuesday night when the Golden Knights routed the Florida Panthers 9-3 to capture the franchise's first NHL championship. The Panthers had pulled off upset after upset to reach the Final but fell to the deep Golden Knights, who went efficiently through the playoffs, winning their title in 22 games. Captain Mark Stone scored a hat trick, the first in a Stanley Cup Final since 1996, and the Golden Knights pulled away in a dominant second period. πŸ’ How the game played out.

This Alaskan grizzly bear female and her cub were hanging around a spot on the the river outside Jackson Hole, Wyo., where she had been seen a previous day with a second cub. The adult bear was bawling and calling for her lost baby, which likely had been killed by an adult male.
