Trump pleads not guilty in classified documents case

Donald Trump became the first former president to face a judge on federal charges as he pleaded not guilty in a Miami courtroom Tuesday to dozens of felony counts that he hoarded classified documents and refused government demands to give them back. After being indicted last week on 37 counts related to the investigation, Trump turned himself in Tuesday afternoon at a federal court in Miami. Here's the latest.

What happens next? The arraignment kickstarts a legal process that will unfold at the height of the 2024 presidential campaign and carry profound consequences not only for Trump's political future but also for his own personal liberty. In the short term, he will travel to his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., where he is set to make public remarks addressing the case against him, and then host the first major fundraiser of his 2024 campaign tonight. It is still unclear when the next legal development in the case will occur.

Prove it, DOJ. If Trump is found not guilty, then this really was a witch hunt. | Opinion

Inflation easing at the grocery store

Americans struggling with price inflation continue to get some relief from two of the biggest drivers – at the gas pump and in grocery stores. Other costs, especially rent, are still climbing. Inflation slowed for an 11th straight month in May as grocery price increases eased again and gas more than reversed the previous month's rise. Overall, consumer prices increased 4% from a year earlier, down from 4.9% in April and a 40-year high of 9.1% last June, according to the Labor Department's consumer price index. πŸ” What to know from the report.
