Supreme Court orders new review of obstruction charges for Jan. 6 attack

More than one in four of the Jan. 6 defendants – including former President Donald Trump – were charged under the same obstruction statute, so the case could have wide-ranging impact.

The Supreme Court ordered lower courts to determine whether obstruction charges are appropriate for defendants in the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021.
