Astronauts who were stranded at the International Space Station return to Earth. Russia agrees to a limited ceasefire with Ukraine. And Jonathan Majors is aiming for a Hollywood comeback. |
👋 Hello! Rebecca Morin here. Can I get a drumroll please? It's Tuesday's news! |
Astronauts return to Earth after months in space | Can you feel the gravity of the situation? After being stranded for more than nine months at the International Space Station, astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have finally splashed down back to Earth. The two astronauts landed off the coast of Florida around 6 p.m. ET after leaving the space station in the wee hours of Tuesday morning on a SpaceX Dragon capsule. Williams and Wilmore lived among the stars for months after a failed mission on Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. 🚀 How the astronauts made their journey home. | Suni Williams reacts as she is helped to leave a Crew Dragon space capsule after she and Butch Wilmore, and two other astronauts, splashed down following their return to earth from the International Space Station off the coast of Florida on Tuesday. Russia agrees to limited Ukraine ceasefire | After a call with President Donald Trump, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said he would support a limited agreement for Russia and Ukraine to cease attacks on energy infrastructure – stopping short of a temporary truce that was proposed by the United States. The U.S. said that negotiators would move on to other phases of an agreement, including a potential halt in fighting on the Black Sea and then to a full ceasefire and peace agreement, only after Moscow and Kyiv agree to stop hitting each other's power plants and electric grids. 👉 See what's under negotiation in peace talks. | Russian President Vladimir Putin attends a meeting at the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia on Tuesday. Missing college student's family believes she drowned | The family of missing University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki now believes the 20-year-old drowned in the Dominican Republic, officials said Tuesday. Konanki's father, Subbarayudu Konanki, had previously urged authorities to expand their search or consider other possibilities for her disappearance like kidnapping, after failing to find her body. The family has now reportedly sent a letter to Dominican authorities asking that she be declared dead. |
When was she last seen? Konanki, who was on spring break, was last seen March 6 in Punta Cana. Joshua Riibe, a student at a Minnesota university who is believed to be the last to see her alive, told investigators she had struggled in the ocean before disappearing. 👉 The latest on the investigation. | A drone takes off as part of the search for Sudiksha Konanki, an University of Pittsburgh student who went missing while on spring break, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on March 13. Jonathan Majors looks to turn the page |
After a two-year delay, "Magazine Dreams" starring Jonathan Majors is set to come out this weekend. Majors was at the top of his game when the movie first premiered in January 2023 at the Sundance Film Festival. But his career came to a screeching halt later that year. |
What happened? Majors was arrested in March 2023 for an alleged domestic violence altercation with then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. He was found guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge and one harassment violation. With the film finally heading to theaters, Majors said all he can do is "dream and hope and put a plan in place," for the future of his career. 🎥 Read the Q&A with Majors. | Jonathan Majors poses for a portrait at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville, Va., during the 2022 Virginia Film Festival.
