Trump rehires thousands of probationary workers

You're fired. Now you're rehired. President Donald Trump 's administration has been ordered to reinstate more than 24,000 probationary federal workers it had dismissed. A federal judge ruled the administration's sweeping effort to shrink the government was illegal, a move that came after thousands were already terminated on or after Jan. 20. While it's a setback for Trump and the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency, the two are continuing to trim the federal workforce. See which agencies are rehiring workers.

Firings, tariffs and Teslas: Trump shakes up Washington

Israel-Gaza ceasefire deal in jeopardy

More than 400 people were killed in Gaza following Israeli air strikes, the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said Tuesday, in what appeared to be the most intense assault on the enclave since a ceasefire took effect in January. Israel's military described the strikes as "extensive." Palestinian health ministry officials said many of those who died were children. The strikes came amid stalled negotiations between the two sides to extend a truce agreement. Will more hostages be released after strikes?

You Asked, On Politics answers: Are Trump supporters regretting their vote?

Here is a question from one reader who said they voted Republican down ballot, except for President Donald Trump during the 2024 election, instead opting to support former Vice President Kamala Harris: "How many people who voted for Trump are already regretting their vote?"

Recent polling shows that a combined 47% of Americans somewhat or strongly approve of Trump's job as president, according to a national poll published by NBC News on Sunday . A majority of Americans (51%) said they disapprove, the poll found. An NBC News analysis found that Trump had the largest gap of any president in the past 80 years between his approval rating among members of his own party, which was 90%, compared to those from an opposing party, which is at 4%.
