It's Ashley. Let's talk about today's top news. |
But first, is it a dog or a wolf? An 1,800-year-old puppy was found preserved in permafrost in eastern Russia. Its fur and whiskers were still intact. |

A student with a gun was shot by a school officer |
A school resource officer in Wisconsin shot a 17-year-old student who pulled a gun in a classroom inside Waukesha South High School and refused to drop it, according to officials. The student with the gun was the only person injured and is now in custody. |
As school shootings continue to shock American families, it reminds us of an often downplayed trend: numerous threats to cause mass violence in school are thwarted instead of carried out. In November, parents in a New York village were told a school shooting plot had been thwarted and three middle schoolers were arrested. But parents are still furious. |
Ex-FBI lawyer Lisa Page speaks out on Trump's 'sickening' attacks |
Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page has tried to avoid the media spotlight since gaining national attention for her exposed text messages with fired FBI agent Peter Strzok, which President Donald Trump has used as evidence of a conspiracy to undermine his presidency. But in a rare interview, Page told The Daily Beast that she could no longer silently stomach the president's attacks on her. She said "the straw that broke the camel's back" came when Trump repeatedly called her name at an October rally in Minneapolis in what she described as a "demeaning fake orgasm" while mocking her and Strzok, who were engaged in an extramarital affair. |

Is winter over yet? |
A winter storm that brought havoc to the Midwest over the Thanksgiving weekend was rolling through the Northeast on Monday, dumping more than a foot of snow in some areas seeing their first measurable snowfall of the season. More than 50 million people remained under winter storm advisories or warnings a week after the historic storm first smashed onto the Pacific Coast as a "bomb cyclone." Up to a foot of snow was forecast from northeastern Pennsylvania to central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire before ending late Monday, AccuWeather said. |

How would you feel if your texts were leaked? |
There's a chance your text messages may have been left exposed online. A database housing millions of private SMS text messages was left open online for an extended period of time, researchers at the online privacy company vpnMentor said Sunday. The researchers warn that "millions of Americans are at risk." The text messaging firm TrueDialog is thought to be responsible for the leak, the cybersecurity experts said. If my texts were exposed, someone's in for a real treat: They'll get to view many, many adorable pictures of my dog Coconut. |
