Derek Chauvin found guilty of murder in George Floyd's death

Derek Chauvin was found guilty of all charges in the death of George Floyd late Tuesday. The verdict was reached about one day after jurors in the trial of the former Minneapolis police officer heard closing statements and began deliberating. Chauvin, who is white, was seen on video pinning George Floyd, a Black man, to the ground for over nine minutes after police responded to a report that Floyd used a counterfeit bill. Chauvin, 45, charged with second- and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs. Now, Chauvin is expected to file an appeal of the guilty verdicts. But the issues to be raised are up for debate.

For almost a year, Americans have been looking forward to herd immunity, when enough people are protected through vaccination or past infection to stop the spread of COVID-19. Officials are now focused on containment similar to the flu: acknowledging there will be regular outbreaks but hoping to limit them as much as possible.

•	Blood clot risk? The European Union's drug regulator says they found a link between the Johnson & Johnson's vaccine and blood clots – but concluded that the vaccine's benefits outweigh the risk.
•	"Do not travel" list expands: The State Department on Monday said that it is raising the travel alert level for a significant number of countries this week. The agency said approximately 80% of countries will now carry the "do not travel'' label, a level 4.

At least 1 person dead after a shooter opens fire at grocery store

At least one person was killed and two injured after a shooter fired a gun inside a manager's office at a Long Island, New York, grocery store Tuesday. Nassau County police have said the suspect fled the scene at a Stop and Shop in West Hempsteadk. Officials named Gabriel DeWitt Wilson as a person of interest in the shooting. The victim of the fatal shooting was a 49-year-old store employee who has not yet been named.

A Tyrannosaurus pack

In a groundbreaking discovery, scientists found stronger evidence that the Tyrannosaurus rex may have traveled and hunted in packs — a topic which experts have debated for decades. The Utah Bureau of Land Management announced that a T. Rex mass death site was discovered in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, which could indicate pack-like behavior among the famous ancient predator. The latest development in how the T. Rex behaved "should be a tipping point" in considering how the dinosaur behaved and hunted in that area of the world during the Cretaceous period said Dr. Joe Sertich, curator of dinosaurs at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
