Trash talk is one thing. Trash throwing is another. |
Dodgers fans threw inflatable trash cans onto the field Tuesday night. They threw virtually every baseball fouled into the stands by an Astros player back onto the field. They booed every player wearing an Astros uniform. It was a two-year-long wait for Dodgers fans, who wanted to take out their anger at the team they're convinced cheated them out of a 2017 World Series title. |
And yet, the Astros came away with the last laugh in a 3-0 win. But, on the bright side for the Dodgers, Max Scherzer might have found his last stop. |
👀 What everyone's talking about: Carmelo Anthony signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers to join longtime friend LeBron James. That now gives the Lakers a roster with James, Anthony, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. |

🥇 Major Team USA wins: The U.S. women's basketball team bulldozed past Australia and into the semifinals. The Americans' win streak that dates back to the bronze medal game of the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona is now at 53 games. Sydney McLaughlin broke the world record in the 400-meter hurdles title Wednesday in another history-making day that saw her beat out 2016 gold medalist Dalilah Muhammad. The USA's baseball team and volleyball team both advanced to the semis. |
🗞USA TODAY's inside scoop: Even though Simone Biles didn't win any golds in Tokyo, she still enhanced her legacy, columnist Nancy Armour writes. It pays to win medals at the Tokyo Olympics if you are an athlete from a country such as Chinese Taipei or Singapore. |
