The Tokyo Olympics kicked off this Tuesday morning in the U.S. with a bang. |
Simone Biles completed what will be remembered as one of the greatest comebacks in Olympic history. |
The undisputed GOAT of women's gymnastics won a bronze medal on the balance beam in her first competition since withdrawing from the team final with "the twisties." It is her seventh Olympic medal, tying the American record held by Magnificent Seven standout Shannon Miller. |

While Biles watered down the higher-difficulty beam routine that she usually uses for her safety, she executed it nearly flawlessly, with no major balance checks or errors. The bronze medal matches her performance from the 2016 Olympics, where she also placed third on beam. |
Suni Lee, the Olympic all-around champion, also competed on beam for Team USA. She took fifth after she somehow managed to stay on the beam during a huge wobble in the middle of her routine. |
🥇 Major Team USA wins: Women's water polo dominated Canada in the quarterfinals, winning 16-5 to advance to the semifinal round. Long jumper Brittany Reese and 400-meter hurdler Rai Benjamin both took silver medals in their respective events. Men's basketball earned a quarterfinal victory over Spain behind 29 points from Kevin Durant. |

🏈 Training camp updates: Carson Wentz is out yet again with an injury, and we're having deja vu because Nick Foles made a not-so-subtle play to be the Colts' replacement QB. Vaccination rates remain an issue, and Tim Tebow is facing an uphill battle to make the Jaguars roster. |
👀 Following free agency: Chris Paul and Trae Young locked down new contracts with the Phoenix Suns and the Atlanta Hawks, respectively, but free agency has only just begun. We're tracking every signing, so keep up with all the news here. |
