1.8 million more doses of monkeypox vaccine available to order |
| An additional 1.8 million doses of the Jynneos monkeypox vaccine are available for order Monday. Last week, the Biden administration announced an expansion of its available monkeypox vaccine and treatment supply as part of the White House's next steps in accelerating its response to the virus. In an effort to conserve vaccines and get as many shots in arms as possible, the FDA issued an emergency use authorization for the Jynneos vaccine that allows five doses to be obtained from the original single-dose vial. More than 13,500 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in the U.S., according to the latest CDC data. "In all, we are making a lot of progress on monkeypox," said Bob Fenton, the White House monkeypox response coordinator, on Thursday. |

Ex-Louisville detective, accused of lying on Breonna Taylor search warrant, to plead guilty |
| Former Louisville Metro Police Detective Kelly Goodlett is set to plead guilty on Monday to one count of conspiring to violate the civil rights of Breonna Taylor for helping falsify an affidavit for the search of Taylor's apartment in March 2020, her attorney said. The charging document says Goodlett falsely claimed a postal inspector had verified Taylor was receiving packages for her ex-boyfriend, convicted drug dealer Jamarcus Glover, at her apartment before the raid. Goodlett also is charged with knowingly conspiring with one of her codefendants, former detective Joshua Jaynes, and others to falsify the search warrant affidavit. She faces a sentence of no more than five years in prison. |

Defense in Parkland school shooter's trial set to present its case for sentencing |
| Attorneys for Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz will present their case for why they believe he should be sentenced to life in prison and not death. Lead public defender Melisa McNeill is expected to give her opening statement Monday and then begin her team's case. They will be trying to persuade at least one juror that their 23-year-old client should not be executed for the 2018 massacre at Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 14 students and three staff members dead. Cruz pleaded guilty in October to 17 counts of first-degree murder. It is the deadliest U.S. mass shooting to ever reach trial. |
Hiker still missing after flash flooding at Zion National Park |
| Authorities at Zion National Park are still searching for an Arizona woman who vanished after flash flooding , the park said, and sections of the park remained closed for search and rescue efforts. Jetal Agnihotri, 29, of Tuscon, was among several hikers who were swept off their feet Friday afternoon by rushing water in The Narrows, an imposing gorge that has rock walls 1,000 feet tall, the National Park Service said. All of the hikers except Agnihotri were found on high ground and were stranded until water levels receded. |

| Ukrainian officials are encouraging government employees in the capital to work remotely this week after some Russians called for attacks on Ukrainian government buildings following the death of a prominent ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin in a car bombing outside Moscow . Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, denied Ukrainian involvement. Russia's Investigative Committee said the explosion ripped through the car driven by Daria Dugina, 29, a conservative commentator, after a festival on Saturday night. State-controlled Russian broadcaster RT reported that the vehicle belonged to her father, well-known anti-Western Russian nationalist Alexander Dugin – often called "Putin's brain'' – giving rise to suspicions that he was the intended target. |
