We keep getting socked by monster storms. Why?

The biggest argument this hurricane season

Climate change. It's always a touchy subject, and right now you can't utter the phrase without ensnaring yourself in one of the nation's most politically divisive debates. One side says after Irma and Harvey — and with Jose possibly on the way — there's no more important time to talk about what's driving these storms. The other side says with dozens dead and scores homeless, it's not time to get political (which in this country, science now is). But there is a line between debating science and irresponsible skepticism about the dangers the hurricanes pose, as conservative pundits Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh learned. The fact is, this hurricane season has arrived with a deadly vengeance. Here is our best attempt to explain, without getting political, why.

Buy your Thanksgiving airfare now or regret it like that tofurkey

It's not even fall yet. And Thanksgiving is more than two months away — Nov. 23 — but it might as well be tomorrow as far as the airlines are concerned. Some carriers are already jacking up prices and more hikes are coming. If you want to avoid paying more, act now. Remember, the most expensive days to fly are the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after. Thanksgiving Day is almost always the cheapest day to take to the skies.

Rebel Wilson = 1. Tabloids = 0

Several magazines called Rebel Wilson a serial liar, but the Australian actress fought back. The Australian Supreme Court on Wednesday awarded her record damages of $3.6 million because of the articles, which Wilson said cost her roles in Hollywood films. The amount is four times higher than the previous Australian record for a defamation case. Bauer Media, publisher of the Australian magazines 'Woman's Day', 'Australian Women's Weekly', 'NW' and 'OK', said Wilson lied about her age, her parents and where she was raised, among other things. Wilson had said she'll donate the cash to a charity, scholarship or put it into the Australian film industry.

This city is the hottest place for jobs

For job-seekers and adventurers, the advice used to be, "Go West, young man." Now it's, "Go to western Pennsylvania." Pittsburgh is the No. 1 city for finding a job, feeling good after you get it and being able to enjoy an affordable quality of life, according to job search site Glassdoor. Why? Houses are relatively cheap and salaries relatively high. Civil engineers, nurses and project managers are in big demand. See the list of 25 top cities here.

Meet Serena William's daughter!

Tennis legend Serena William and fiancĂ© Alexis Ohanian introduced their newborn daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., on Instagram and Twitter on Wednesday. The little bundle of joy was born on Sept. 1 and weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces. "We had a lot of complications, but look what we've got," Williams said about her pregnancy.
