The Puerto Rican community in Allentown, Pennsylvania, was still roiled Tuesday as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump arrived in their town following remarks by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at the former president's Madison Square Garden event Sunday calling Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage." |

Russia brought in North Korean troops. It's chaos. | Ukraine's spies say they intercepted phone calls showing chaos as Russia works to integrate North Korean troops into its military operations. Some of the calls were intercepted from troops involved in defending Kursk, a region of Russia on Ukraine's northern border where Ukrainian troops seized territory in August, according to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Agency. But a moment of reprieve from severe weather does not mean the 2024 hurricane season plans to go out quietly, forecasters warn. Climate change creates health crisis. Health care creates climate change. | Climate change is killing Americans in surprising ways. Waste created by health care itself is a major part of how climate change is impacting health, a report in one of the world's most prestigious medical journals says. The annual Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change report highlights the heath care sector's connection to climate change, with 8.5% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions coming from the industry. Researchers note there is no national program that requires it to measure, manage or disclose its data.
