Good morning, Daily Money readers. Jayme Deerwester back with you this Wednesday. |
This week has brought a mixed bag of news for minimum-wage workers. On the upside, Hobby Lobby has announced it will raise pay for full-time workers from $15 to $18.50. Meanwhile, grocery chain Kroger will eliminate paid pandemic-related leave and charge $50 per month to employees that haven't gotten shots. And then there's the tipping debate. Earlier this month in Arkansas, a party of over 30 people tipped their servers $4,400. but one waitress was later fired, saying she was told to split it with everyone working that shift. |
💡 INSIGHT OF THE DAY: If you're a parent, you should find December's child tax credit payment in your bank account today when you log into check your balance. However, don't count on getting that money in the new year. Though there's a provision for continuing the monthly payments in President Joe Biden's Build Back Better plan (which cleared the House just before Thanksgiving), the bill is currently stalled in the U.S. Senate. |
