Lawyers: Black teen shot in head by homeowner after going to wrong house

After 16-year-old Ralph Yarl rang the doorbell of the wrong house, a man came to the door and shot him in the head – then shot him again after he fell, according to attorneys retained by Yarl's family. The Black teen was going pick up his younger brothers last week in Kansas City, Missiouri, when he was shot, family members said. Now community leaders, Democratic lawmakers and an attorney for Yarl's family are demanding justice and questioning whether race played a role in the shooting. Here's the latest.

Kenya shines at Boston Marathon

It wasn't the man who won the 2023 Boston Marathon that came as a surprise, but rather the man who didn't. While Evans Chebet of Kenya pulled away from the pack on a rainy Monday morning and finished the run at 2 hours, 5 minutes and 54 seconds to become a back-to-back champ, heavy favorite and reigning world record holder Eliud Kipchoge was languishing more than 3 minutes behind. Hellen Obiri, a two-time Olympic silver medalist in the 5,000 meters, won the women's race in 2 hours, 21 minutes and 38 seconds to complete the Kenyan sweep.  Full coverage of today's race.

TULUM, MEXICO - JUNE 15: Sargassum, a seaweed-like algae, covers a beach on June 15, 2019 in Tulum, Mexico. Mexico's Riviera Maya Caribbean tourist towns of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum are being inundated with tons of foul-smelling seaweed-like algae called sargassum that has turned the pristine blue waters brown and littered the white sands beaches. The government of Mexico is concerned that if the problem persists tourism could suffer. Scientists from South Florida University's College of Marine Science say that sargassum mats could be brought on by global climate change since increased nutrient flows and ocean water upwelling brings nutrients up from the bottom.
