A Black teen was shot twice after going to the wrong house to pick up his siblings. And runners from Kenya pulled off an impressive sweep at this year's Boston Marathon. |
👋 Hello! Laura Davis here. Let's dive into Monday's news, shall we? |
Lawyers: Black teen shot in head by homeowner after going to wrong house | After 16-year-old Ralph Yarl rang the doorbell of the wrong house, a man came to the door and shot him in the head – then shot him again after he fell, according to attorneys retained by Yarl's family. The Black teen was going pick up his younger brothers last week in Kansas City, Missiouri, when he was shot, family members said. Now community leaders, Democratic lawmakers and an attorney for Yarl's family are demanding justice and questioning whether race played a role in the shooting. Kenya shines at Boston Marathon | It wasn't the man who won the 2023 Boston Marathon that came as a surprise, but rather the man who didn't. While Evans Chebet of Kenya pulled away from the pack on a rainy Monday morning and finished the run at 2 hours, 5 minutes and 54 seconds to become a back-to-back champ, heavy favorite and reigning world record holder Eliud Kipchoge was languishing more than 3 minutes behind. Hellen Obiri, a two-time Olympic silver medalist in the 5,000 meters, won the women's race in 2 hours, 21 minutes and 38 seconds to complete the Kenyan sweep. Netflix's live 'Love is Blind' reunion goes haywire |
Love is patient, love is kind, love is blind and love is ... late. The live reunion for the Season 4 reunion special of Netflix's "Love is Blind," the streamer's second-ever live event on its own platform, is finally online after it ran into an unexpected snag when the special failed to load for viewers on Sunday. After a variety of difficulties for viewers trying to access the content, the show finally started airing – seemingly live – at 6:16 p.m. PDT, although some users still reported issues. Netflix later apologized and said the special would be filmed and available on the platform by Monday afternoon. |
