Lori Vallow Daybell, the Idaho mother whose case has garnered widespread notoriety around the world, was found guilty Friday of killing her two youngest children and her husband's former wife. A seven-man and five-woman Idaho jury rendered their verdict after deliberating for seven hours following a five-week trial. The verdict comes nearly three years after the bodies of Joshua "JJ" Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16, were discovered by authorities in Vallow Daybell's husband's backyard near a "pet cemetery."

Thousands of people hunkered down Sunday in monasteries, pagodas and schools, seeking shelter from a powerful storm that slammed into the coast of Myanmar, tearing the roofs off buildings and killing at least three people. Suns fire head coach Monty Williams in wake of playoff flameout vs. Nuggets

The Phoenix Suns dismissed head coach Monty Williams on Saturday, according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. Williams' four-year tenure ends two days after the Suns were eliminated on their home floor in a largely non-competitive 125-100 home loss to the No. 1 seed Denver Nuggets. Despite Williams' relative success with the Suns, it marked the second consecutive year that the Suns' season ended in embarrassing fashion at home in the second round.

North Carolina governor's veto of abortion ban faces 'uphill battle'

North Carolina's Democratic governor vetoed legislation Saturday that would have banned nearly all abortions in his state after 12 weeks of pregnancy. Hundreds of abortion-rights activists and voters watched on a plaza in the capital of Raleigh as Gov. Roy Cooper affixed his veto stamp to the bill. The veto launches a major test for leaders of the GOP-controlled General Assembly to attempt to override Cooper's veto after they recently gained veto-proof majorities in both chambers. The bill was the Republican response to last year's U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
