Between caring for her dad, husband and kids, she can't catch a break.

Jen Cortes takes care of her father, Julio Rivera, 82, who has dementia as well as other health issues, at her home in Rochester, NY. Cortes works from home on Sept. 11, 2025 so she can keep an eye on him while working. She looked over at him every time he moaned, either rubbing his chest, giving him water or adjusting his pillow and blanket.

Jennifer Cortes needs a break. But even when her dad's home health aide comes to offer her respite, Cortes needs to be around to translate.
