Tuxedos, satin gowns and a strange press briefing

Suspect Cole Tomas Allen, 31, is expected in federal court Monday in Washington, DC, for his alleged involvement in a shooting at the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner Saturday.

Allen is accused of embarking on a cross-country train trip and telling family members he was a "friendly federal assassin" out to target administration officials, according to authorities, including a senior law enforcement official.

The salad course had just been served when the attack threw into chaos one of Washington’s premier social events. Members of the media donning black tie attire attended a press briefing at the White House immediately after to hear from President Donald Trump.
