Texas flood emergency level increases |
The National Hurricane Center said the system has a high chance of developing into a tropical system as it moves along the Texas coast Wednesday. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue from Texas into parts of Louisiana and Mississippi, where flood watches are also in effect.The flooding threat comes as the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues across North America, including matches scheduled this week in Houston.

Kasia Gay, 69, spends her retirement picking up her grandchildren from school and doing her son's family's laundry. Gay is one of millions of grandparents providing free child care for their adult children. New data from an AARP survey found that among the 65 million grandparents in the United States, 15% care for their grandkids daily or almost daily.
