President Donald Trump announced over the weekend that a peace deal was reached between the United States and Iran, but many issues remain unresolved. 🕊️ |

Sports have never just been about sports. Two weekend events ‒ the World Cup and a UFC fight on the White House lawn ‒ brought that into stark relief. 🥊 ⚽️ |

Peace between the United States and Iran? 🕊️
|
Trump announced Sunday that the United States and Iran have reached a framework deal to end the war that began Feb. 28 ‒ but some big questions remain, and it'll likely be several days before the final agreement will be signed. Trump said the deal would reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz, but it's still unclear what will happen with Iran's nuclear program.

Two big-ticket events over the weekend illustrated the intersection of politics and sports: the World Cup, which kicked off in cities from Los Angeles to New York (well, New Jersey) to Mexico City, and the UFC's mixed martial arts event on the White House lawn.

Work hard. Go to college or trade school. Get a good job. Buy a house, raise a family, retire with dignity. It's the American Dream ‒ or was, before college costs skyrocketed, housing became unaffordable and retirement seems out of reach for many.
|
Now younger Americans, especially Gen Z and millennials, say they're not sure their American dream is the same as their parents' and grandparents' was. For them, homeownership and a traditional nuclear family aren't the goals to which they aspire. Instead, they're searching for freedom, balance and their own vision of the good life, a new study finds.

When we met, husband and I worked together in a high-stress environment (a newspaper's sports department, with multiple deadlines each night), so he saw me at my craziest and crankiest before we ever started dating. Who knew that would become a dating trend all these years later? "Goblintimacy" is where you let your date see the weirdest, wildest, orneriest version of yourself first, baggage and all, so they know fully what they're in for. But be careful, experts say ‒ it can backfire.
