Nicole Fallert here, bringing you the news to know on Thursday, from voices raised in a closed-door meeting with the president.
Trump's meeting on Capitol Hill |
Voices were raised and tempers ran high, dividing GOP lawmakers over the Iran war and a major election reform bill called the SAVE America Act, multiple attendees told reporters. Before the sit-down, Trump told lawmakers the SAVE America Act is more important than the bipartisan housing bill.
Trump told reporters after his Senate meeting that their talk went "great." Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-Louisiana, said he lost his temper with the president over the Iran war.
"You have not told the American people what is going on," Cassidy said he told Trump.
