Hurricane Helene makes Florida landfall as Cat 4 after 70,000+ flee

Strong winds and some partial flooding were visible in areas of Sanibel, Fla., on Thursday, September 26, 2024, as residents experienced some of the effects from Hurricane Helene.

Helene made landfall in the Florida Big Bend region Thursday night before it is expected to move inland at a fast pace across the Southeast.
