Officers found written material along with a map describing how an assault on a Nashville elementary school would unfold, as well as a plan to shoot up a different school the assailant scrapped because of "too much security.'' |
The attacker, identified as Audrey Elizabeth Hale, 28, gunned down three young students and three staff members at The Covenant School before being confronted and killed by police, authorities said. |

Philadelphia water 'safe' | Panicked buyers grabbed armfuls of bottled water from store shelves across Philadelphia on Sunday after a ruptured pipe spilled at least 8,100 gallons of a latex chemical solution into the Delaware River, a source of drinking water for millions. The chemicals spilled late Friday at the Altuglas LLC chemical plant in Bristol, Pennsylvania, on the river about 17 miles northeast of Philadelphia. In a statement Monday, the city said the water available to customers has been treated and tested to confirm that it is "safe to drink and use for bathing, cooking, and washing." Battered Southeast faces more rain | Plus, in parts of the south on Tuesday, rain will continue, bringing downpours from Louisiana to the Carolinas. The area has started recovering in recent days from a flurry of tornadoes that hit the Mississippi Delta region, one of the poorest areas in the nation, leaving more than 20 people dead. Entire towns in Mississippi were decimated; hundreds of residents have been displaced; homes and businesses were destroyed. The state has opened more than a half-dozen shelters to temporarily house people displaced. Netanyahu pauses judicial overhaul following protests | Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has temporarily suspended his controversial judicial reform legislation that has led to mass protests and caused anger across most parts of society, including the military. The overhaul has plunged Israel into one of its worst domestic crises and led to an intensifying protest movement. Netanyahu, who is on trial for corruption charges, insists the reforms will prevent overreach from Israel's courts.
