Quick look at Monday's news: |
JFK's granddaughter criticizes RFK Jr. |
In a Nov. 22 essay in the New Yorker, Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy and daughter of Caroline Kennedy minced no words. |
What she said: Amid her own treatment for a rare form of blood cancer, Schlossberg described the damage she believes Kennedy's actions have and will inflict on cancer patients and medical research. |
| • | Schlossberg revealed that she had less than a year to live. She learned she had acute myeloid leukemia after giving birth to her second child in May 2024. | | • | She shared her fears. Schlossberg wrote she believes actions directed by her cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary have and will inflict damage on cancer patients and medical research. | | • | Schlossberg isn't the first member of the Kennedy family to speak out against RFK Jr: "I watched from my hospital bed as Bobby, in the face of logic and common sense, was confirmed for the position, despite never having worked in medicine, public health, or the government," the 34-year-old mother of two wrote in the devastating essay. | | Tatiana Schlossberg speaks at the John F. Amid nursing shortages, next generation fears | Nursing advocates are raising alarms that a new set of proposed federal regulations could limit the amount of financial aid available to fund the next generation of nurses. The concern stems from proposed new regulations the Education Department recently developed around limits to federal student loans. Previously, borrowers in graduate programs could borrow up to the cost of attendance. But the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act did away with that and created separate loan limits between professional and graduate programs. And nursing is not considered a professional degree. |
MTG's unlikely new partnership | In response to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's decision to leave Congress next year, a Democratic lawmaker who previously insulted the Georgia Republican is now offering to work with her. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, wants to partner with Greene on "safety legislation" for members of Congress. The GOP lawmaker said earlier this month that, amid her feud with President Donald Trump, she had received a wave of threats against her. Crockett said she was shocked after Greene's announcement. |
The takeaways from Mamdani and Trump's Oval Office love fest | Apparent warm feelings between President Trump and New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani marked a stark contrast after months of fighting in the press and social media. After their first meeting Friday at the White House, Trump said he'd readily live in Mamdani's New York, and Mamdani said he looked forward to working with Trump on improving affordability in their shared hometown. The pair had surprising areas of agreement on affordability — and Mamdani says he still thinks Trump is a "fascist." | U.S. President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani reach out to shake hands in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, D.C., on Friday.
