Cases against Trump foes tossed

A federal judge said the prosecutor was unlawfully appointed. But this might not be the end of Comey's and James' legal worries. ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌  ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌

👋🏼 Hi! I'm Phaedra Trethan, with the Short List for your (hopefully) short workweek. 🦃

The Pentagon says it's investigating a U.S. Senator and Navy veteran for what it calls "misconduct."
The Thanksgiving travel forecast looks... dicey.

But first: We're wishing Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, all the best as he navigates serious health challenges . ❤️‍🩹

Comey, James cases tossed

Two of President Donald Trump's political enemies, former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James, had their cases dismissed by a federal judge Monday.

The judge ruled that the prosecutor on the case, Lindsey Halligan, was unlawfully appointed and therefore the case could not move forward. But the case had also been marred by questions over whether the charges were politically motivated and procedural issues with the prosecution.

Mark Kelly in the Pentagon's sights

The Pentagon is investigating U.S. Senator Mark Kelly for what it calls "serious allegations of misconduct," stemming from a video calling for American troops to refuse to obey unlawful orders.

The Arizona Democrat, a retired Navy captain, was one of several U.S. veterans serving in Congress who appeared in the video. The Pentagon said the investigation into Kelly's actions "may include recall to active duty for court-martial proceedings or administrative measures."

Farewell to a reggae icon

Jimmy Cliff, a beloved reggae singer who helped bring the genre from his native Jamaica to a worldwide audience, died at age 81, his family announced Monday.

The two-time Grammy winner told The Guardian in 2012 that his music reflected his outlook on life: "I grew up in a condition where I could've chosen to go either way – negatively or positively...I always have to have a positive outlook in whatever situation there is, and so it comes out in my music." Cliff's musical impact.
