Secret Service agents thwarted another attempt on former President Donald Trump's life. Jane's Addiction is canceling tour dates after an onstage scuffle between bandmates. And last night's Emmy Awards had glitz, glam, memes and nostalgia.

👋Hey, Monday! Laura Davis here. Hope you had a nice weekend! Let's get you caught up on the news.

But first: A lunar two-fer! 🌙 September's full moon will be a supermoon – and also a partial lunar eclipse. How to see it.

Investigating the assassination attempt on Trump

How could an armed threat once again reach within a few hundred yards of former President Donald Trump – just two months after he was nearly killed at an event in Pennsylvania? And what motivated the suspect? An intensive investigation was underway Monday to try and untangle an apparent assassination attempt targeting Trump on Sunday.

What to know: After seeing a gun barrel in nearby bushes while Trump was playing golf, Secret Service agents fired on suspect Ryan Routh, who fled but was later caught. Routh, who appeared in federal court Monday on firearms charges, never fired a shot and did not have a line of sight to Trump, authorities said. 🔎 Follow the latest updates.

Who is the suspect? Routh has a complex history.

And the Emmy goes to ...

Social media gags and political jokes met up with TV's biggest night for the annual Emmys on Sunday. Well, if we're being technical, it's the second ceremony this year (thanks, 2023 strikes!) so this was a sequel of sorts with a lot of returning stars (the cast of Emmy favorite "The Bear"), a few shocks ("Hacks" scored a major win) plus some new faces (hello, "Shōgun" crew!). And John Oliver cursed out the people trying to play him off while paying tribute to his dog. ✨ See all the night's best (and worst) moments.

👀 Here's what you didn't see on TV.
After the party, it's the after party: See photos.

Jane says: Sorry, no tour

After an onstage scuffle during a concert last week, Jane's Addiction is hitting the pause button. The band announced Monday it is canceling the remainder of its tour and taking some time away as a group after singer Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro on stage in Boston on Friday.

An apology: Farrell apologized to "my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends" for his actions, and said the past weekend "has been incredibly difficult" and that his behavior was "inexcusable." 👉 What we know.

Texas pipeline explosion prompts evacuations

A plume of fire shot high into the air after a natural gas pipeline explosion in the Houston area, prompting evacuations and a large response from firefighters to fight the Monday afternoon blaze. Officials said the still-burning pipeline is owned by Energy Transfer, a natural gas pipeline operator. The cause of the fire was still under investigation. 👉 What we know so far.
