An end to the partial government shutdown could be on the horizon. Here's where things stand March 27.
The shutdown is not over quite yet.
The House could vote Friday, March 27, or over the weekend, on an agreement to fund the Department of Homeland Security, creating a pathway to end a partial government shutdown and relieve pressure on air travel across the country.
What happened: An agreement that provides money for all of DHS except for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol is headed to the House for a vote after the measure was passed in the dark of night by the Senate. Senate Democrats ultimately allowed the measure to pass without the concessions they'd repeatedly said were nonnegotiable at the start.
Everyone wants spring break: The House could hash out details of the deal, but time for negotiations is limited as members of Congress leave town for a two-week spring break after Friday.
