Death toll rises to 13, hundreds of thousands in dark from massive winter storm |
Almost half a million Americans from Kentucky to Michigan were in the dark Sunday after a massive front dumped heavy snow across much of the nation's northern tier and slammed parts of the South with powerful thunderstorms and tornadoes. At least 13 deaths were reported from the storm, which began by dumping several feet of snow in California's mountains and pushing east, AccuWeather said. Parts of the Northeast already saddled with up to a foot of snow could experience another dose Monday as a new storm tracks eastward, forecasters warned. More of this weekend's weather. |

Trump seeks to block Pence's grand jury testimony |
Donald Trump is seeking to block his former vice president, Mike Pence, from testifying before a federal grand jury investigating the former president's efforts to interfere in the transfer of power following the 2020 election, two people familiar with the matter said Saturday. Pence had already vowed to resist the special counsel's subpoena, calling the move "unprecedented and unconstitutional." |
